Product details

The war was finally over, and now the motto was 'Rama dama'! Immediately after the end of the war, photographer Georg Fruhstorfer was out with his Leica, capturing the rubble-strewn landscape of Munich. The photos included in this volume impressively document life after the war. Knowledgeable and empathetic, the texts by Heidi Fruhstorfer, herself a witness to the time, complement the largely unpublished images. They depict the once magnificent, now destroyed buildings and the makeshift daily life amidst the ruins. Particularly striking are the images of the people who adapted to the situation, did not give up, and ultimately took action to clean up and rebuild their city. Experience a journey into a time marked by great hardship and an indomitable will to survive.
