The "Carmina Burana" represent the most extensive surviving collection of Latin poetry from the Middle Ages. They mainly consist of drinking, gambling, and love songs, presenting their themes in an almost inexhaustible rhythmic and thematic variety. This expanded selection now includes, among other things, all the texts that Carl Orff used as the basis for his famous musical adaptation of the "Carmina Burana." Each poem is accompanied by a detailed commentary.
