Product details
In Josef von Eichendorff's novella 'Das Schloss Dürande', published in 1837, the central theme of love between Hippolyt, the young Count of Dürande, and Gabriele, the sister of the count's hunter Renald, is placed in a new, more socially influenced context. The story primarily takes place in a secluded noble estate located in the beautiful Provence near Marseille, but also partly in revolutionary Paris and at the court of Louis XVI in Versailles, where Renald and Gabriele find themselves. Here, the impending catastrophe is already foreshadowed. Text in modern spelling. - With annotations.
