But humans, mythical figures, gods, and even objects sometimes take center stage as well. The texts are not only varied and entertaining but also brief, which is why they are often read as introductory material in Latin classes. Carolin Ritter has newly translated the entire corpus – 126 fables – and provided explanatory notes.
