The film from 2010 (German title: "And Then the Rain") tells the story of the young, idealistic director Sebastián and the pragmatic producer Costa, who come with their team from Spain to Cochabamba in Bolivia to shoot a film about Columbus. The third main character is the locally cast Bolivian Daniel, who is intended for the role of the Taíno chief Hatuey, a historically documented figure. The charismatic Daniel is also one of the voices of the protest movement that has formed against the privatization of the water supply. The conflict in the city escalates, Daniel is arrested, and the situation increasingly jeopardizes the filming.
