The traditional old humanities have undergone a transformation in recent decades, evolving into cultural studies on a fairly broad front. In parallel, individual disciplines, such as philology, are pushing for a cultural-historical expansion by no longer focusing solely on the peaks of their respective national literatures, but rather observing an entire cultural field. This development is based on a long-standing theoretical framework, which this anthology elucidates through key text excerpts.
