John L. Austin's "How to Do Things with Words," summarized in twelve Harvard lectures in 1955, is considered one of the classic statements of Analytical Philosophy. His method of demonstrating that one does something by saying something has enriched both philosophical and linguistic discussions alike. The edition edited by Eike von Savigny is based on the English versions from 1962 and 1975.
