The recycling of old devices, materials, and other substances makes a significant contribution to resource conservation, pollutant elimination, energy savings, and the reduction of landfill volume. The applicable recycling technology is a fundamental requirement for the economic realization of these processes. The book begins by discussing the available mechanical, thermal, and physicochemical process technologies. In the subsequent material-specific sections, the types of materials and waste are introduced, from which the possible and technically realized recycling methods for metal scrap, old plastics, used glass, waste paper, dust, and liquid waste are derived and evaluated. This is followed by a description of the recycling methods for very complex old products (electrical and electronic devices, cars). The technologies and apparatus are explained in detail.
