Antisemitic tendencies that appear in some current debates as well as in criticism of Israeli occupation policies do not originate solely from 19th-century antisemitism or during the National Socialist era, but are essentially products of a Christian antisemitism that can be traced back to the New Testament. Any psychoanalysis of antisemitism must take this religious-historical origin into account.
