Daan Peer Schneider investigates how regional economies and their actors respond to crises over time and how they can adapt to them. To assess technological adaptability in Saxony and its manifestations in response to changes in state funding and international conditions in the photovoltaic industry, he develops an original measurement approach. With this, the author empirically examines whether the crisis in the central German photovoltaic sector leads to a transformation, resulting in the recombination of knowledge from this industry into other economic sectors through connected industries. For this purpose, the author employs both qualitative and quantitative empirical research methods.
