In the foyers for asylum seekers, three houses of the asylum organization for the canton of Zurich, those individuals find a place for whom migration from their home country to Switzerland is overwhelming. They are mentally ill, traumatized, and no longer able to live independently without intensive support, due to reasons that sometimes stem from their country of origin, such as war, imprisonment, torture, or persecution, and sometimes relate to the conditions here that the asylum seekers cannot cope with. Often, a combination of both is present. The authors vividly describe the various working methods that the staff of the foyers use to address these issues.
