Job terminated, car sold, apartment cleared out, and everything needed for four and a half years packed into a few bags – in spring 2013, the adventurer from Erlangen, Peter Smolka, leaves his comfortable life behind to cycle around the globe for the second time. He heads east. A journey into the unknown. Three friends from Erlangen accompany him as far as Russia, but beyond Moscow, Smolka continues alone. Taking long detours through Pakistan and South India, he makes his way to China, where he is stuck at the border for four weeks. A year after his departure, he finds himself in Shanghai by the Pacific. From there, a container ship takes him to Canada. As a slow traveler, Peter Smolka is always close to the people and nature. He experiences India intensely through his senses, savors Southeast Asia with his taste buds, and enjoys the freedom in the vastness of Canada on his way to South America.
