In February 1874, the Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph I (1830-1916) traveled to Russia, which was considered a loyal ally for its help and support against the Hungarian rebellion. During his month-long journey, he primarily visited the nobility, spending his leisure time with them and gaining insight into Russian court culture.
