In both cases, there are experiences that elude our immediate, rational, and reasonable understanding. In the case of the pathologization of religious experiences, religion and religiosity take on a stabilizing and resilience-promoting function. In this context, the theoretical and clinical contributions of the 34th volume of the Forum of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy address the significance of religious experiences for the intrapsychic dynamics of psychotic patients, as well as the resulting peculiarities of transference and countertransference in psychoanalytic treatment of psychosis.
