The book offers a historical-critical examination of the work of the religious study house "Johannes-Duns-Scotus-Akademie" in Mönchengladbach as part of the history of the Cologne Franciscan Province, which was reestablished in 1929. It also addresses the development of the self-image of the religious province. The study house of the province served not only as a training institution for priests, where a specific concept of religious priestly identity was conveyed, but also as a place for the formation of a guiding vision for the humanities mission of the Cologne Franciscan Province.
