Renewable energies have undergone an impressive growth development in the German electricity market. This has been made possible by national legislation, which has also been influenced by sub- and international actors and factors. Bernd Hirschl analyzes this process in a multi-level policy analysis. He identifies the relevant actors and influencing factors and explains the connections to energy and climate policy at the national, European, and international levels. In doing so, he draws on insider knowledge gained as an expert for the report on the Renewable Energy Sources Act and in further studies on the implementation of German funding policy for renewable energy.
