Cyril Pedrosa designs a kaleidoscope of characters whose paths intersect over the course of a year. Each season has its own graphic identity, as does each voice. In episodic snapshots, he portrays both ordinary and significant moments from the lives of his characters, revealing their longings and fears, their dreams and struggles. The connecting element is a photographer who seems to direct her lens straight into the hearts of the characters, much like Vivian Maier once masterfully did. Cyril Pedrosa has already proven himself to be a master of nuance in his 2012 volume "Portugal." With "Hunters and Gatherers," the comic artist now embarks on a narrative and graphic experiment: he weaves together magnificent drawings, dense text passages, and classic comic sequences into a delicate tapestry of colors and poetry.
