Product details

The painter and draftsman Franz Wiegele is considered a special case in the history of Austrian art in the 20th century. He represents a distinctly independent position. Together with Egon Schiele and Oskar Kokoschka, he was involved in the emergence of new art in Vienna before World War I, and he lived for many years in Paris and Zurich before ultimately returning to his birthplace Nötsch in the Gailtal Valley of Carinthia. Along with his brother-in-law Anton Kolig, Sebastian Isepp, and Anton Mahringer, he is a central figure of the so-called Nötscher Circle, yet his artistic intentions are entirely unique. This volume provides a comprehensive insight into the life and work of Franz Wiegele.
