Reportagen aus dem Reichsrat 1898/1899
German, Mark Twain, 2018Product details
Reports by the great American author from his years in Vienna. From 1897 to 1899, Mark Twain lived in Vienna, immersing himself not only in the cultural and social life of the Danube metropolis but also addressing political issues as a keen observer of his time. His visits to the Parliament on the Ring inspired him to write two reports that remain relevant to this day: it was a time of national tensions, with the Slavic peoples vigorously demanding more rights, which were brusquely rejected by the German-speaking elites. Tempers flared in the House of Representatives. Mark Twain's reports provide a vivid picture of those days that heralded the downfall of the Danube Monarchy. The edition is accompanied by a special audiobook: Hermann Beil reads Mark Twain's reports on the High House.
