Like Marlen Haushofer in her time, Hannelore Valencak deserves to be read by a new generation. Ursula stands firmly in a happy life: young, in love, and freshly married, she has set up a little house with her husband Joachim and is now joyfully looking forward to their first vacation together. But when she wakes up on the morning of the trip, Joachim is gone, she is not in her house, and ice flowers bloom at the windows, unusual for mid-July: inexplicably, she finds herself thrown back into the past, into the apartment of her domineering Aunt Priska, and she is faced with the dreary daily routine at the office from which her marriage had just freed her. She desperately tries to speed up the process and reach her husband, who knows nothing about her, until she realizes that she must go through the same path as unchanged as possible once again.
