'Service-Learning' as 'Learning through Engagement' is an educational method that combines social engagement of students with subject-related learning in the classroom. For children and adolescents from at-risk backgrounds, this teaching-learning approach offers special potential: they transition from being in need of assistance to becoming helpers, learn in authentic situations, and experience themselves as competent. This volume provides insights into the practice of teaching, aimed at empowering students in challenging circumstances. Using 'Service-Learning' as an example, it demonstrates how resilience-building can be integrated into everyday school life.
