Finding stillness in movement is firsthand presence, resisting impulsiveness and any calculation. This is where the magic of East Asian philosophy and movement arts lies. If one struggles with the contradiction of intertwining and coexistence, the transformation into its opposite, and ambiguity, a fleeting glance at ancient Chinese texts, which indulge in paradoxical thought figures—such as "stillness in movement," "fullness in emptiness," or "duration that has no time"—is sufficient. A bit of practice in Chinese movement arts is also enough to experience intertwining, coexistence, and transformation into the opposite in one's own body. In the first part of the book, the aim is to uncover bodily and life experiences behind philosophical concepts in order to provide experiential terms that will be explored in the second part through various movement arts, alongside breath and movement exercises.
