Product details
'Chamomile Flowers' tells the story of the itinerant Traud, who becomes homeless with her mother in the spring of 1901. For a while, they are tolerated by relatives, but eventually, they end up on the streets and see no other option than to work as itinerant laborers in the farms of the Eifel villages. Through the additional sale of chamomile, they secure a meager existence. When the mother dies, Traud continues on her own. The novel describes Traud's endless journey across the Eifel, before, during, and after the two world wars. It speaks of hunger, misery, and dirt, of loneliness and exclusion. But it also tells of beauty, dignity, and greatness. And of the unusual love for Paul.
