Twelve-year-old Ngaire and her five siblings lead a carefree life in Auckland, New Zealand. When Ngaire's mother falls ill, their parents must travel to England. During this time, the children are to stay with their two uncles and their adoptive son on a farm in Kamahi. Reluctantly, the children head out to the countryside in Kamahi, but it turns out to be completely different from what they expected: Kamahi is enchanting and full of adventures.
