Drive hunting has a long tradition in Austria dating back to the monarchy. Just think of the great chamois drives at the Brandhof of Archduke Johann. However, after World War II, hunters - not only in Austria but across Europe - increasingly became purely stand hunters. Only wild boar hunting continued to be done in drives, albeit on a relatively small scale and usually not very well organized. Today, drive hunting is experiencing a renaissance, not only for wild boar but also for other game species. However, a great deal of knowledge and experience has been lost in the meantime. The book "Riegeljagd" aims to make this knowledge of the old hunting method available again. It summarizes in clear terms all the aspects necessary for the success of a drive hunt, regardless of whether it is for wild boar, red deer, roe deer, chamois, or fox.
