Cracks are an inevitable occurrence in reinforced concrete construction. Their most significant characteristic, crack width, has been part of European reinforced concrete standards for several years, defined by a standardized calculation method. This book addresses questions regarding the reliability of crack width calculations and measurements, the causes of cracks, shrinkage stresses and early deformations, the limitation of crack widths through reinforcement, the impact of cracks on the durability of reinforced concrete structures, and the crack issues in waterproof concrete constructions.
