The book "Total View" was created as part of the 2015 exhibition at the BRUSEUM of the Neue Galerie Graz, which was the most comprehensive showcase of the great Austrian multi-disciplinary artist to date. It brings together over 30 different groups of works from the fields of drawings, visual poetry, photomontages, ink paintings, paper cuttings, and visual music. The selection was made based on thematic principles, such as the exploration of concepts like "I" and "Now," as well as those of inter-/mediality. In an impressive manner, the exhibition reveals fundamental principles of Rühm's exceptional art: the complex interplay of gesture and abstraction, the experimental approach to signs and systems, as well as a radical contemporaneity. Gerhard Rühm's unbridled creativity, his conceptual spirit, his enlightening impetus, and his humor are truly inspiring.
