Product details
Lord Byron (1788-1824) published the epic poem "Childe Harold's Pilgrimage" between 1812 and 1818. This long poem, divided into four cantos, features the author’s self-portrait in the title character and is less a chivalric romance than a kind of travel diary, evoking ancient Italy, Albania, and Greece, as well as the war-torn Spain and Portugal devastated by the Napoleonic invasion. A comprehensive appendix by the author explains the historical and artistic references of the poem.
