For decades, Oliver Wolschke has been an exemplary Jehovah's Witness: he lives his faith, does not celebrate Christmas or birthdays, prays daily, and raises his children according to the community's guidelines. However, one day he begins to doubt the teachings of his faith. He starts to delve into the background of the community and uncovers more and more inconsistencies. How many times can the organization postpone the date of the apocalyptic battle of Armageddon before the followers become suspicious? Why is sexuality so vehemently suppressed? And how does the community acquire its many properties? At the age of 31, Oliver Wolschke leaves the organization. After his departure, he and his wife are considered apostates, losing not only friends but even family members turn away from them. They must build a new life.
