Building Blocks for Literary Learning in German Lessons. The study of German-language prose texts is a central theme in literature education. This volume comments on key texts from the 20th and 21st centuries and prepares them for contemporary German instruction. The author begins by providing an overview of important literary historical developments and trends (from the turn of the century around 1900 to the present). This is followed by explanations of literary didactic learning perspectives. The main part of the volume deals with exemplary texts and demonstrates their potential for literary learning. It particularly addresses literary historical movements relevant to the central high school diploma (e.g., Classical Modernism, New Objectivity, literature after 1945, German-language literatures, Postmodernism, intercultural literature, literature during the reunification period).
