This volume is dedicated to one of the most important chapters of Roman history, the era of the Punic Wars. In this fiercely contested conflict, Rome was able to assert itself against its greatest rival in the western Mediterranean, laying the foundation for its further rise to world power. Carthage, on the other hand, disappeared from the world map in 146 BC. Beginning with the first contractual relations between Rome and Carthage and culminating in the final destruction of the Punic metropolis in 146 BC, the Roman-Carthaginian history is presented in detail, taking into account source-critical analyses and essential research controversies. Thus, for the first time, a comprehensive account of this exciting period of Roman history is available, aimed both at research and teaching, as well as at history enthusiasts.
