As a result of a social science study, this book gives a voice to people who have experienced sexualized violence. Their perspectives are at the center and reveal how deeply sexualized violence is embedded in the everyday life of South Tyrol. The foundation of the book consists of 31 interviews with individuals from different generations who identify with the German, Italian, and Ladin language groups and who have experienced sexualized violence from the 1950s to the present day - including in families, schools, clubs, churches, and workplaces. Their experiences shed light on the societal conditions that enable violence and promote silence - and on what is necessary to confront, process, and prevent it. A book that looks closely, listens, and calls for a change in thinking - for a society that no longer conceals sexualized violence but is ready to take responsibility.
