Product details
"The Last Chance" was announced in 1949 as a sequel to the novel "The Stake in the Flesh." However, Sartre did not complete this novel, and only after his death were the existing parts published: Brunet, the committed communist, and Mathieu, the individualistic loner, find themselves in German captivity, where the former establishes a resistance group and the latter a smuggling organization. The conflict between freedom and commitment, violence and counter-violence, collective discipline and isolated action gives these texts their unique richness of tension.
