When the body of a prostitute is found on Frankfurt's Galgenberg, Judge Blettner is convinced: it was suicide. However, his sharp-witted young wife Hella sees it differently. Shortly thereafter, when a murdered tailor is discovered at the same location, Hella and her mother, the widow Gustelie, decide that it is high time for a proper investigation.
