At the beginning of many significant innovations often lies a simple idea. This is also true for collegial consultation: it is based on the consideration that people from similar fields can provide qualified advice to each other on professional issues. While this often happens informally, it takes on a specific structure here. One group member is advised by the other participants in assigned roles according to a fixed procedure, with the goal of developing solutions for a specific question or problem. These consultation groups, consisting of five to ten members, operate without a professional or external consultant; the group itself possesses the know-how and distributes the responsibility for the consultation process among all members. In several steps or phases, solutions are developed independently, helping to address both practical problems and challenges.
