A Norwegian policewoman comes to America... Chief Inspector Sigrid Ødegård from the Oslo police has shot a man in the line of duty. Her actions were completely justified, but Sigrid is devastated. She seeks solace at her father's home in the mountains. However, he greets her with a plane ticket in hand: her brother Marcus, who has been living in the USA for a long time, has gone missing. Sigrid is tasked with finding him. The American police are also searching for Marcus: he is suspected of having murdered his girlfriend. Sheriff Irv, a man in cowboy boots with a degree in theology, reveals this to her. Irv trusts Sigrid as little as she trusts him. Yet, they form a sort of investigative team: he wants to solve the murder, she wants to prove her brother's innocence—and thus bring a long-standing and very sad family story to a good conclusion... A culture-clash tragicomedy.
