The Müllner-Peter from Sachrang is a legend. He was a doctor, pharmacist, and an excellent musician whose works are still performed today. In the small village in the Aschauer Valley, on the border between Bavaria and Tyrol, he experiences the Napoleonic occupation. As a young man, he is meant to become a priest. He decides against this path, which turns the entire community against him. However, his talent always helps him find a way into the hearts of people. He also struggles with the woman by his side. The headstrong Maria Hell refuses to ever marry, as she does not trust men. She becomes a carpenter, disguises herself as a man, and works for years unnoticed in a monastery. Yet, time and again, their paths cross.
