The Rother hiking guide to the Dolomites, designed as an eight-volume compendium, dedicates volumes 7 and 8 to the area of the Southern Dolomites. Due to a significantly larger geographical scope and the extensive research required, these two volumes are being released later than the already available volumes 1 to 6. The Viennese Dolomite specialist and experienced mountain book author Franz Hauleitner has taken on the editing of these two guides, which are among his favorite regions. Volume 7 describes the southeastern corner of the Dolomites, the mountain region between Passo Giau, Bòite, Cordevole, and Piave valleys, including the Zoldiner, Belluneser, and southern Ampezzaner Dolomites. Additionally, it covers the areas of the Southern Carnic Alps, also formed from Dolomite rock, located east of the Piave, and the medium mountain range of the Ve.
