Product details

The pilgrimage routes to Santiago de Compostela, the tomb of the Apostle James, traverse all of Europe. For over a thousand years, pilgrims from Central, Western, and Northern Europe have journeyed through France towards the Pyrenees mountain range, from where they continue their pilgrimage towards Santiago. One of these routes begins in Strasbourg and connects to the Via Podiensis in Le Puy-en-Velay. This Camino de Santiago, unlike the Spanish Camino, is a quieter path without the hustle and bustle. It is a joy to meet other pilgrims, and there is no "rush" for the best spots in the hostels. Initially, the lively Alsace region is crossed, with its medieval-looking wine villages. Beautifully decorated half-timbered houses are closely nestled together, and many wine taverns invite visitors to stop in. A cultural highlight, quite literally, can be found here.
