"I'm off now" - since the book of the same name by Hape Kerkeling, the Camino de Santiago has become widely known. However, what is less known is that there is not just "the" Camino in Spain, but that there is a network of historical pilgrimage routes throughout Europe. So, for those who don't want to travel too far, they can embark on their own personal pilgrimage in Austria, where they can even experience more peace and inner reflection than on the more famous and therefore busier routes. The Austrian Camino runs across the country: it starts in Hainburg in eastern Austria and leads to Feldkirch in Vorarlberg, just before the Swiss border. The landscape traversed is diverse, ranging from idyllic Danube scenery to high Alpine peaks. The path follows the historical pilgrimage route and passes by some of the most significant places.
