Gesamtausgabe (Volume 15): Complete Edition Texts and Letters 15
German, Kurt Tucholsky, 2011Product details
In 1932, Tucholsky withdrew from the literary public eye. His texts for the "Weltbühne" deal with the economic crisis in Germany and Europe, the beginning of the alignment of radio and film, as well as censorship measures. On the occasion of the trial "Soldiers are Murderers" against Ossietzky, the responsible editor, and his imprisonment, Tucholsky writes his last major political article: "For Carl von Ossietzky. General Receipt." With "Hitler and Goethe," he once again dares to write a biting satire. The comedy "Christopher Columbus or the Discovery of America," co-authored with Walter Hasenclever, premieres in September 1932 at the Leipzig Schauspielhaus against the resistance of far-right circles. Reluctantly, "the writer who stopped" still writes the lead article for the first issue of the "Wiener Weltbühne.".
