Product details

In the backdrop of the Austrian Alpine world lies the shadow of Auschwitz; the forest homeland is haunted by strangers, tourists from the opened eastern Europe. The tableau that unfolds in long speeches and numerous film projections gradually becomes a battlefield. At the center, speaking and contradicting each other, are the Jewish emigrant, philosopher, and political scientist Hannah Arendt (as "The Woman") and the German nationalist, highly mannered, deeply contemplative existential philosopher Martin Heidegger (the old man), who was historically situated in the Black Forest town of Todtnauberg. The text resembles a balancing act between philosophical allusions, poetically condensed perceptions of the world, and light-hearted travesty, oscillating between solemn pathos and sad, tear-filled puns.
