Product details
The architectural and intellectual work of Rudolf Schwarz (1897-1961), created in the period before and after World War II, offers a deeper understanding of post-war German architecture. Nine sacred and secular buildings by the architect, all located in the Rhineland, are the focus of this book. The structures are vividly illustrated through new plans and photographs, complemented by Schwarz's comments on the presented projects and his lecture "The Architecture of the Present" from 1958, translated into English. Essays by Wolfgang Pehnt, Adam Caruso, and Helen Thomas, along with a conversation between Maria Conen and architect Maria Schwarz, the wife of Rudolf Schwarz, provide insights into his complex body of work.
