Anneliese Poppinga (born 1928 in Lübeck) is a German lawyer and political scientist, as well as a former close associate of Konrad Adenauer. After completing her Abitur and training, she began her professional career at the Federal Foreign Office. She worked at the German embassies in London and Tokyo, where she ultimately served as the chief secretary to the ambassador. In 1958, she started her role as secretary to Konrad Adenauer at the Federal Chancellery in Palais Schaumburg. Even after Adenauer's resignation as Chancellor in 1963, she continued to work for him as a research assistant and collaborator on his memoirs until his death in 1967. In 1969, she resumed her studies in Bonn, which she had interrupted in the 1950s, and completed them in Munich with a dissertation on the fundamental principles of Konrad Adenauer's politics in his self-understanding.
