Sämtliche Erzählungen
German, Friedrich Schiller, 2004Product details
This edition, with an introduction by Emil Staiger, gathers all of Schiller's narratives, showcasing his mastery of prose. The most famous of these stories is "The Criminal from Lost Honor"; its hero is reminiscent of Karl Moor from "The Robbers." Adverse circumstances and the disdain of society lead a person to become a criminal; yet, he maintains a sense of honor that ultimately drives him to accuse himself. In "The Ghost Seer," Schiller references the contemporary scandal surrounding the impostor and spirit medium Count Cagliostro.
