Product details

Michail Logvinov questions the widespread understanding of Salafism as a precursor to terrorism or as the ideological foundation of the Islamic State. The causality established by the radicalization discourse needs to be scrutinized, while a paradigm shift in radicalization research is necessary. The personality-related radicalization discourse is unable to prospectively demonstrate under what circumstances at-risk individuals become dangerous. However, as a performative security discourse, radicalization research leads to at-risk individuals being labeled as threats or potential perpetrators in terms of the risk paradigm. At the same time, there is a lack of understanding of religious contexts and discourses in contemporary jihadism.
