Rudolf Hauschka, head of the WALA Heilmittel-Laboratorium in Eckwälden, whose medicines are used worldwide, describes his life. It leads from the end of the Danube Monarchy to our own day and, through the political and intellectual upheaval, determines the experiences and knowledge of the author. From the university, which he leaves as a chemist with a doctorate, his years of wandering lead him through the world until, on the basis of newer insights into the nature of substances and remedies, he comes to the establishment of his successful pharmaceutical laboratory.
