In 1970, the birth of the 'new' Neuwied took place: As part of the administrative reform, the still relatively young city, now 352 years old, was expanded to include the centuries-old municipalities of Gladbach, Heimbach-Weis, Altwied, Feldkirchen/Rhein, Niederbieber-Segendorf, and Oberbieber, as well as the city of Engers. Heddesdorf and Irlich had already been incorporated in 1904 and 1969, respectively. Despite their shared development since then, numerous peculiarities and traditions have been preserved in the individual districts to this day.

Following the great success of her first picture book 'Neuwied', the renowned journalist and author Dr. Lieselotte Sauer-Kaulbach now presents a continuation dedicated to the city and its parts. From the largest collection of Neuwied motifs, that of Friedel Wulf Kupfer, she has once again selected around 200 images from the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century. Accompanied by informative texts, these images introduce the districts of Neuwied. The viewer's gaze is primarily directed towards the everyday life of the citizens, balancing work, leisure, and family.

A picture book that revives memories of times long past, invites new and renewed discoveries, and sparks curiosity to see the city at the foot of the Westerwald with fresh eyes.
