The author Gottlieb Karl Grosse, born as the son of a master carpenter in Taucha and trained as a theologian at the University of Leipzig, lived as a writer and editor in his hometown and founded a private school around 1840. The present history of the city of Leipzig is one of the most comprehensive accounts, starting with the earliest inhabitants of this river area, through the introduction of Christianity, the founding of the university, up to the image of the city in 1539.
