Product details

The author and art historian Cornelius Gustav Gurlitt ( January 1, 1850 in Nischwitz; March 25, 1938 in Dresden) describes in this volume art and artists on the eve of the Reformation in the Ore Mountains. He presents the Ore Mountains in its Reformation aspirations, the profane style of the late Gothic, the Annenkirche at Annaberg, and more. Cornelius Gurlitt is today regarded as the founder of art historical Baroque research and thus became the founder of Saxon monument conservation. He was permanently active in publishing until his old age. With more than 100 books, he became probably the most important art historian in Saxony. (Wiki) Illustrated with 15 b/w illustrations. Reprint of the original edition of 1890.
